Methods & limits

A waveform shows amplitude over time, not the content of speech

The tool divides the recording into 320 time windows, finds the largest absolute amplitude in each, then normalizes all peaks to the canvas height. Even long audio fits into one rhythmic overview.

A waveform reveals silence, intensity, and section density, but not pitch, lyrics, or spoken words. The site performs no speech recognition.

Window peak = max(|sample|); display height = peak ÷ global maximum peak × usable canvas height.

FAQ

Turn audio into a waveform · FAQ

Which audio formats work?

MP3 and WAV are usually most reliable in modern browsers. M4A/AAC, OGG, Opus, and FLAC depend on the current browser decoder.

Is long audio uploaded?

No. The current browser reads and decodes the file; the server receives no audio content.

Why does it differ from editing software?

Tools vary in peak or RMS method, window size, and normalization. This tool uses fixed-window peaks for a clear shareable overview.
