Methods & limits
File size, duration, and decoded size are different things
Compressed file size depends on codec and bitrate. After decoding, the browser holds floating-point PCM expanded by sample rate, channel count, and duration, often much larger than the file.
The site reads duration, sampleRate, and numberOfChannels from the decoded buffer. PCM size assumes four bytes per Float32 sample and is not the original file size.
Estimated PCM bytes = duration × sample rate × channels × 4; decoder rounding can cause small differences.

Why does M4A fail in some browsers?

Are ID3 tags read?
No. The tool reads only the decoded audio buffer and local file size.
